Hi there Dan, thanks for taking the time to make a mix for DR! Can you introduce yourself briefly?

Hey Timo, and thank you for letting me hop on as a guest for a mix through your phenomenal outlet!

I’m a full time producer going by Well Being based out of the Pacific Northwest. Here to sustain and maintain a vibe by creating out-of-the-box and left-field electronic music oriented for before, during and after the club.

How did you get introduced to dance music in the first place? 

I was very much involved with various forms of extreme metal and hardcore music as a teen. Growing up in high school, I have found a love for heavy and underground music, and digging into the niche to seek artists which were lesser known and unheard of so I can be the one to show all of my friends (Like 2 lol)

While being the unpopular kid, and letting my inner-angst out through this heavy music, it later came to my attention that as I grew up, I wasn’t an angry kid anymore and needed to seek out a softer and less in-your-face style that defined me a bit more as a person.

With all of that being said, I had discovered earlier forms of intelligent dance music, ambient, post-rock and chill out music that definitely paved the way to my liking of a more club-esque sound.

Can you tell us a little about how you started with DJ’ing in the first place and what motivated you back then? 

Believe it or not, I started as a producer before I even got into DJing at all. I wanted to manifest all sonic possibilities, and create a sound from scratch that was based off all of my creative control.

Later on, getting into more club-oriented music, my will to want to mend and mix tracks together with precision and finesse definitely became a lot more feasible. 

Your label Dance All Day Records is almost exactly one year old and already 5 releases strong. How did this happen?

I wanted to start an outlet that defined my sound as a producer and other producers alike that I thought needed to be showcased in one all-inclusive imprint based on their overall sound, and their relationship to me.

I like to stay close and personal to all my signees. I created Dance All Day to bring artists closer to each other sonically and personally.

Where do you source the music you release from?

So far D.A.D. is just a digital imprint, but am working to get some wax released in the future.

What has been the most rewarding part of running Dance All Day?

The whole process is rewarding for me. It’s all DIY from the ground up. Planning release dates, and upload dates for mixes knowing I get to create the art for all of them. I love having all of the creative control haha.

You’re also an excellent producer – can you tell us a little more about that and your current musical endeavours? 

Appreciate that! I am always learning new bits of information everytime I turn a piece of hardware on, and everytime I load up Ableton Live.

As far as recently goes, definitely been into a lot of crossover house & techno jammers.

Been extremely into everything released for labels such as Whities, Planet Euphorique, and Luca Lozano’s Klasse Wrecks imprint.

Do you have any fond musical memories from your childhood? 

Nothing too specific, but as a youngin’ I grew up on hard-rock and 60’s/70’s classic rock. My father would always dub me mixed cassettes from early rock records.

I did also have a knack for rhythm and percussion. I remember when I was growing up around the ages of 7 – 10 years old I always wanted to play the drums so my parents and I made a mini “drum kit” out of those “Royal Dansk Butter Cookies” tins and would just smash those as a young naive child. I could definitely say this was the start of better things to come.

What was the first record or a song that made a lasting impression on you? 

This is definitely a difficult question for me to answer, but since I have always sought out to discover music that was unknown and unheard of to me, stylistically I’ve always been getting into new music that I feel defined my current life situation more and more each time.

I can say when I was in my phase of seeking out new chill-out artists, Tycho’s ‘Past is Prologue’ definitely left an impression on me at the time. I came to my realization after the release of that album that I was destined to learn, and write low-key sounding electronic music.

In my opinion, we’re living in exciting times musically. A lot of indie labels & artists are releasing amazing music just for the love of it with a DIY attitude – without any compromises or commercial pressure. Do you share this view and where do you think it comes from?

I 100% agree with this attitude. The mindset comes from multiple similar artists that are sick and tired of the commercialist ways of the media getting people to listen to only the specific tracks, artists, and genres in which they want them to hear.

This is a way for up and coming artists to share a certain niche vibe with each other within the same stylistic circle to bring artists and listeners together.

You’ve curated a lot of music for both the label and for your DJ sets, who are the artists and DJ’s you think deserve more attention than they get currently? 

I am really stoked to see my homie Tony Rainwater strive with his breakthrough new-wave soundings mending breaks, drum n’ bass and idm all rolled together into one nostalgic although modern excursion through the wave of newly emerging artists

So the mix, can you tell us a little something about that? 

I wanted to bring forth an eclectic bunch of tracks to the table which focuses on modern and underground club culture that uniquely define my character and current life situations.
